Privacy Policy

NC License Prep, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides online North Carolina driver’s permit test preparation. This policy explains how we handle personal information on nclicenseprep.com and our Moodle learning site, learn.nclicenseprep.com. It covers our browser-based service; it does not describe the former mobile app.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: information supplied during registration and account updates, such as name, email address, login credentials, and language preferences.
• Learning records: course enrollments, quiz answers and attempts, scores, completion records, progress, and earned badges.
• Purchase records: selected course and access option, payment amount and status, transaction references, and information needed to handle payment questions or refunds. Stripe processes payment-card details; our learning site receives transaction information rather than storing your full card number or security code.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, access times, and activity or security logs generated when you use the websites.
• Communications: information you send when requesting help or contacting us. Please do not email passwords or full payment-card details.

2. How we use information

We use information to create and authenticate accounts, confirm email addresses, deliver purchased course access, record learning activity and awards, process transactions, provide support, send account and service messages, investigate errors or misuse, protect the service, and meet applicable recordkeeping and legal obligations.

3. Cookies and external resources

Moodle uses cookies to support functions such as signed-in sessions. Preference cookies may remember choices such as language. Blocking required cookies may prevent login or course access. Your browser provides cookie controls.

We use Google reCAPTCHA on account registration to help prevent automated registrations and abuse. reCAPTCHA processes technical and interaction information, such as IP address, browser information, and interactions with the verification challenge, and sets a security cookie to assess requests. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Payment pages may use Stripe’s cookies and fraud-prevention technology. The public website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives technical connection information such as IP address and browser information when your browser requests those resources. Third-party services handle information under their own policies.

4. Service providers and other disclosures

We use service providers to operate the service, including Amazon Web Services for hosting, storage, backups, and transactional email; Google Workspace for business email and support; and Stripe for payments. Moodle is the learning software running on our hosting infrastructure.

We share information as needed to provide these services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect rights and security, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable protections. We do not sell or rent personal information.

External providers’ privacy information: AWS, Google, and Stripe.

5. Retention and course expiration

The end of a 3-day or 7-day access period ends course access. It does not automatically delete your account or all related records.

Retention depends on the purpose of each record. Account information may be needed for account access and support; learning records for course administration and learner support; transaction records for accounting, refunds, disputes, and legal requirements; and technical logs for troubleshooting and security. Backup copies follow a separate lifecycle. We retain information only as needed for these purposes and applicable obligations, then delete or de-identify it. Contact us for information about retention of your records or to request deletion.

6. Your choices and requests

You can review available account and preference settings within Moodle. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, email support@nclicenseprep.com. We may verify your identity before acting. Some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, or security purposes. Deleting an account may prevent further course access and does not itself constitute a refund request. Applicable law may provide additional rights.

7. Students and age requirements

The service is intended for users age 13 and older. Users under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to use the service and make purchases. The service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

8. Security

We use safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password private and tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
